Serena Hotels is an upscale hotel and resorts chain in East Africa, Southern Africa, and South Asia. Serena Hotels East Africa is where it all began when the company established their first hotel in Kenya in the 1970s. Serena Hotels also expanded well in this part of Africa, collecting 36 luxury resorts, safari lodges, and hotels. Serena Hotels also received multiple recognitions in the region from World Travel Awards. Just recently, Polana Serena Hotel was named 2019 Mozambique’s Leading Hotel. The same organization awarded the Presidential Suite, Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort & Spa the title Uganda’s Leading Hotel Suite for the same year. In the previous years, the Serena Hotels in the East Africa division have been a consistent awardee of World Travel Awards.
The company is also listed on the Nairobi Stock Exchange (NSE). Its largest shareholder is the Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development. The Serena Hotels Group’s involvement in this scene has always proven how successful its operations have become over the 40 years it’s been in the industry. As of November 201, there are already 25 properties under this brand all over Africa and 11 properties in three Asian countries (Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Tajikistan).
