Alaska Native Heritage Center is a social and educational institution set in the city of Anchorage, Alaska. It was opened in 1999 and shared the culture of Alaska’s eleven main cultural groups, namely the Eyak people, Haida people, Athabaskan people, Tlingit people, Alutiiq People, Yup’ik people, Tsimshian people, Cup’ik people, Unangax people, Siberian Yupik, and the Inupiaq. Outside the center, six human-sized Native dwellings surround Lake Tiulana. At the same time, inside, there is the Hall of Cultures, a gathering place, and a theatre, which are home to demonstrations and activities. Alaska Native Heritage Center is also known as a premier source of information and training for professionals in Alaska Native communities. Chugiak and the Cooper Landing are some of the closest towns/cities to Anchorage where a quick-trip is a must.
