George Best Belfast City Airport – BHD Airport
George Best Belfast City Airport is the smaller of the two international airports that serve Belfast in Northern Ireland. It was originally known as Belfast City Airport in 1983 but was later on renamed to its current title in memory of Belfast professional footballer, George Best.

BHD Airport is a single runway airport and holds a CAA public use aerodrome license, which means it is allowed to fly flights for public transport as well as for flying instructions. Majority of the flights handled by the airport are intra-UK flights. In 2010, it handles as many as 2.7 million passengers and in 2017 it handled 2.6 million. The airport is a base for Flybe, the largest operator at Belfast. In 2010, Aer Lingus also opened a base in the airport. The airport has faced several restrictions due to its location, which is just adjacent to residential areas. Residents in nearby cities such as the Carryduff, Broughshane, and Glenariff and other surrounding cities use the George Best Belfast City Airport for their travels.
