Burlington International Airport - BTV
Burlington International Airport is a civil-military airport, located in Chittenden County, Vermont. Owned by the City of Vermont, it is operated by the Burlington Airport Commission. Some of the cities served by the airport include Silver Bay, Edinburg, Corinth, and more. In 2016, the airport handled over 580,000 passengers. The National Plan of Integrated Airports categorized the BTV Airport as a primary commercial service airport. In addition to serving commercial flights, Burlington International Airport also serves as the base for the 158th Fighter Wing, Vermont Air National Guard.
Best Time to Visit
The first aircraft landed on what would become the Burlington Municipal Airport in 1920. Famed pilot Amelia Earhart was presented with the keys to the city of Burlington in the airport. In 1969, the airport was rebranded from municipal to an international airport in an effort to change the perception of it being a small facility. Its airport code is BTV. The first jet service started in the airport in the 1970s. Burlington International Airport covers 942 acres and has two runways with asphalt surfaces. Daily operations average 193. A majority of this is commercial flight. Its location one hour away from the U.S. Canada border has made the airport a choice for many Canadian passengers.
