Centralia is part of the Lewis County and rose into history books because of the 1919 Armistice Day Centralia Massacre, or popularly known as the Wobbly War. Buffalo Bill and Wild West Shows are regularly depicted in the region as well as abstract murals depicting the 1919 war. Named after the Illinois Central Railroad, the city was originally the site where a railroad converges. Centralia, WA is famous for its coal mines that have been blazing for over centuries. The Centralia fire that covers 6 square miles and is continuously spreading by 75 feet per year is estimated to continue burning for another 250 years.

The peak seasons for tourism in Centralia, Washington starts from the last days of May up until the third week of September. August is the busiest month with hotel room rates and flights at their most expensive. October is a least favored month for tourist.
