Chatham: Enjoying: A Historical Trip To Old Colonial America
Chatham is a seaside town in Barnstable County at the tip of Cape Cod, Massachusetts where the historic Chatham Lighthouse can be found. Originally known as Monomoit, an indigenous population’s term for ‘region’, it has been converted into a summer resort area after it was officially declared as a town. It was inhabited by Native American tribes before the European colonization. Although the vicinity has been urbanized with high-end restaurants and family-operated shops, it still resounds the echoes of the past with 18th-century buildings. Chatham, MA is also home to the Chatham Anglers baseball team and has been an active participant of the Cape Cod Baseball League over the years.

You can visit the Atwood House Museum which is a colonial property preserved since the 1700s. It is where you can find documents and articles that give an insight into Chatham’s history. There also exists the Caleb Nickerson House Museum which is a property owned by the Nickerson Family Association, Inc. where the Caleb House was built in the early 19th century.
