Clifton: Of Canyons and Wine Cellars
Clifton, Colorado, a town named after the mesa cliffs found nearby it, is located in the Mesa County, part of the Grand Junction Metropolitan Statistical Area. It was established in the early 1900s and has long been a popular tourist site especially for trekkers and bikers. Grand Junction Regional Airport (GJT), with flights to and from other major cities such as Denver, is more or less 10 minutes away from Clifton.
Best Time to Visit
Half the year it is warm over at Clifton, CO. It is the warmest during the middle of the year, between June and August, and are the most recommended months to visit the town especially if you want to enjoy the outdoors. These are also the months when tourism is at its peak and Clifton CO hotels are expensive. Otherwise, it is freezing in town with little to moderate snow. Join in the fun celebrating the Grand Junction Off-Road and Downtown Music Festival that happens May every year.
What to Do & Area Attractions
James M. Robb – Colorado River is the nearest and best area of interest in Clifton. Boats, fishing gears, and camping gears are available for rent on the property. Wineries such as Avant Vineyards, St. Kathryn Cellars Winery, and Graystone Winery are also notable in the area. Head on to the nearby Mount Garfield if you want to challenge yourself on a hike.
