Dothan Regional Airport- DHN airport
The Dothan Regional Airport- DHN airport is a regional airport catering to Dothan City in Alabama. The airport is owned by the Dothan-Houston County Airport Authority. Geographically, the airport is located in the northwest of Dothan, in Houston county. It is surrounded by Lake Park, Thomasville and Pelham. The DHA airport was the “primary commercial service” airport from 2011-2015 by the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems. Likewise, the DHN airport use is divided into commercial flights and military trainings. There is only one operating airline in DHN airport by the Delta Connection which has regular flights to Atlanta.
Best Time to Visit
The DHN airport was initially built in 1941 as Napier Field for the United States Army Air Corps. In 1960, the old military base used during the war was converted to a new facility for civilian use. The converted DHN airport also has jet plane runways. Later, in 2004, military trainings by the US Air Force had been resumed its training, “a non-flying unit, the 280th Combat Communications Squadron (280 CCS), an Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC)”.
What to Do & Area Attractions
DHN airport landing are mostly military landings due to the military training in the airport, however, there is no problem in going to this region as several alternative airport is nearby. There is the ABY-Southwest Georgia Regional Airport in Albany, and MGR-Spence Airport.
Hotels are also abundant near the airport; there is the 2-star casual hotel Sleep Inn & Suites Dothan North and the 3-star Hilton Garden Inn Dothan. Both of these hotels are located within a 3-mile radius from the airport and features shuttle services upon the guests’ request.
