A public-use towered airport situated three miles southeast of Hartford’s downtown, in Hartford County, Connecticut is Hartford-Brainard Airport. It is named after Hartford’s former mayor, Newton C. Brainard, and is owned by the Connecticut Airport Facility. Today, HFD-Hartford-Brainard Airport serves as a reliever airport for Bradley Airport. The airport is classified as a regional reliever airport facility by the National Plans of Integrated Airports System for 2017-2021.

Hartford-Brainard Airport (HFD)has two asphalt-paved runways designated 2/20 and 11/29. It also has a turf designated NE/SW and measures 2,309 feet in length. An asphalt helipad can also be found in the airport measuring 70 feet in length.
