Hua Hin Airport - HHQ Prachuap Khiri Khan
Hua Hin Airport (HHQ), Prachuap Khiri Khan, Thailand is a thriving local airport in Asia. It is a public airport operated by the Department of Airports. Regular scheduled flights began in 2018 when AirAsia introduced four (4) flights a week from Hua Hin to Kuala Lumpur. Currently, only AirAsia is operating at the airport.
Best Time to Visit
Hua Hin Airport has only one (1) runway measuring 6,890 feet long. In August 2018, the Department of Airports said that the airport would undergo major upgrades over the next five (5) years. With this, it is expected that the passenger terminal and hangar space will be expanded, the runway will be extended, and a new terminal will be constructed. This undertaking is part of the Riviera Thailand project, which aims to promote the tourism industry in coastal provinces. The said project, which aims to link existing coastal tourist attractions in four (4) provinces, is part of the comprehensive Master Plan of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports. This is a push towards sustainable tourism and increased tourism industry income. Given these developments, it is projected that passenger traffic at Hua Hin Airport will increase 10 times over the course of five (5) years. Ban Nai Dong and Cha-am are nearby the HHQ Airport.
What to Do & Area Attractions
A lot of great hotels are close to the HHQ Airport such as the 4-star Sala @ Hua Hin Services Apartment & Hotel, located a few-minute walk from the airport and the 5-star Movenpick Asara Resort & Spa Hua Hin, located 0.5 miles from the airport terminal. Both hotels offer deluxe accommodations and is located a short drive from various attraction sites in the area.
Chumphon Airport is the closest alternate airport to HHQ Airport.
