Hofn: Harbor of Icelandic Adventure
Hofn, Iceland is a town known for its fishing industry, which thrives on sea fishing, processing, and packaging. As such, it is home to several fish processing factories. Mainly, these produce bacaloa or saltfish and processed lobster. Previously, the town was named Hornafjaroarbaer. Its current name means “harbor”. The nearest airports to the town include the Hornafjorour Airport (HFN) or Hornafjordur Airport and the Fagurholsmyri Airport (FAG).

The best time to visit Hofn is April, when tourists are least likely to visit. This means hotel rates and plane tickets are relatively cheaper during this month. Peak tourist season includes the months of December through February. Every first weekend of July, locals celebrate Humarhatio or Lobster Festival. During the festival, people celebrate through dancing, music, and even alcohol.
