Phu Bai International Airport – HUI
The Phu Bai International Airport is an international airport but currently served by domestic flights only. It is located south of the former capital of Vietnam which is Hue City
. The Phu Bai International Airport, whose airport code is HUI is a public type airport and is operated by Middle Airport Authority. Aside from regular domestic flights, the airport is also served by a charter flight operated by Austrian Airlines which transport Austrian tourists from Luang Prabang, Laos. It was only in 2005 when the airport welcomed its first international flight that was authorized by Vietnam government in 2002.
Best Time to Visit
The HUI-Phu Bai International Airport has one runway with asphalt as its surface. The Vietnamese government submit a master plan to make Thua Thien Hue Province the next international tourist destination. Due to this the airport also has development plan to undergo to suit with the expected increase of passengers’ passing through the airport. In 2013, the airport underwent renovations of runways thus it was closed for more than two months. Passengers during that time used the alternate airport which is Da Nang International Airport. As of this time, the airport is served by 5 airlines that transport passengers to five Asia destinations. You can easily drive to the tourists' sites of Dien Ban from the airport or visit one of Vietnams beautiful cities Da Nang and Dien Duong.
