Iga: The Home of Ninjutsu
Iga, Japan is located in the Mie Prefecture and is one of the provinces of Tokaido. This town is enveloped by mountains and in the early days, Iga Province had bad roads which made it difficult to access but with modern technology, locals and visitors can now easily travel to this town from Nara and Kyoto. Iga, JP is the birthplace of Ninjutsu.
Best Time to Visit
Since Iga is surrounded by mountains, it can get quite hot during summer and cold in winter. However, the best time to plan a trip to Iga is in early April when the Cherry Blossoms are in full bloom. Tourists can head to various locations in Iga to see this beautiful flower bloom. However, this flower has a short lifespan and the petals start to fall in a week. The blossoming period may slightly change yearly.
What to Do & Area Attractions
Ueno Park is one of the main attractions in town located in the center of the city. It is a popular spot for Cherry Blossoms viewing in April. Ueno Park is also the home of Ueno Castle built in the 16th century. The castle has a unique composition as it is reconstructed from wood unlike other castles made from concrete.
