About Kyoritsu maintenance Ikusaka-mura
In September 1979, Kyoritsu Maintenance was established in Katsushika, Tokyo. The following month, Harushi Ishizuka, who had a long background in food, began accepting contracts to manage cafeterias for companies as a cook. In 1980, the company expanded their business in the student dormitory sector in Kaganawa area. The first Gakusei Kaikan private student dormitory opened in Sakura City, Chiba Perfecture, in a wooden two-story building with 28 rooms that measured 3m x 3m each. 5 years later, the student dormitory market was booming, and Kyoritsu Maintenance thrived more. They started a service providing the rental of a single room with breakfast and dinner. This was implemented in the belief that the energy of the residents is the source of a company’s prosperity. In 1993, dormitories for employees were made by the group under the Dormy Inn brand.
Many companies saw Kyoritsu’s efficiency that corporate groups requested employee dormitories, too. In 1996, they quickly began catering to people in business trips as well. Their once simple dormitory grew into a relaxing resort and lodging for any kind of guests. In 2015, the success of the now hotels & dormitories chain was still unmatched in Japan. They extended overseas, establishing business hotels in Seoul, South Korea with an aim to showcase their hospitality to the world. The current revenue of Kyoritsu Maintenance is now $1.5 billion.
