It was Albert Steigenberger who came up with this idea. He started a small series of hotels in Germany which remains the location where most of the establishments of the company are. In mid-2009, the Egyptian travel and tourism company Travco Group acquired the mother company until the new name was publicly released in 2016. Despite that recent rebranding, the market caught on well with such change.
