This county seat of Kimble County is named as ‘Junction’ in 1984 due to its location as the meeting place of the North and South Llano Rivers. It is also currently the meeting place of many roads. Of note is the convergence of the US Highways 83 and Interstate Highway 10.The town was nicknamed “The Land of Living Waters” for having the most flowing water among other cities and towns in Texas.

Tourist peak season is during the summer months of June to August. Yet for many reasons, the ideal time to come to Junction, Texas is March to May and September to November, just before and after thebusiest times for tourism.
