Marsaskala: A Cozy Beachfront Village on Southeastern Malta
Locally known as Wied il-Għajn, Marsaskala, Malta is a seaside village sitting on the southeastern edge of the country. There is a small natural harbor in the area, making the town a favorite getaway for fishermen and tourists. There has been evidence of Roman settlements in the areas surrounding Marsaskala, but the village itself is mainly uninhabited until recently. The Feast of St. Anne, held annually in July, is the most celebrated religious feast in Marsaskala. During this month, the tourist population in the area is at its highest, so plan your trips accordingly. Most of Marsaskala, Malta hotels are already taken during this season, as well, making the available inns more expensive than usual. If you consider visiting Marsaskala in the fall, you will enjoy the city attractions without much crowd. There are also discounted room rates and cheaper transportation by this time of year, as well.
