It was named Miami BBQ Beach Exhibition Hall during its construction in 1956 and Miami Beach Exhibition Hall after its completion in 1958 and later to its present name upon inclusion of the convention hall. It was given the tagline “The Largest Exhibition Center in the South” due to its 100,000 square feet size.
