Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport - MKE
Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport (MKE) is the main airport for the city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and is categorized as a civil military hub. It was named after Billy Mitchell, a general in the United States Army Air Service who is often referred to as the father of the US Air Force. Formerly known as the General Mitchell International Airport, it was renamed in February of 2019 as a way to highlight the city upon which the airport is located. Travelers from the nearby suburbs in northern Chicago often use this airport instead of the O’Hare and Midway, leading to it being sometimes regarded as Chicago’s third airport.
