Montauk Airport – MTP Montauk
Montauk Airport is a privately owned airport open for public use serving the city of Montauk, New York. It is the easternmost airport in New York State on the East Lake Drive between Block Island Sound and Lake Montauk, approximately 3.7 miles away from Montauk’s central business center. It is a reliever airport as stated in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems. It was developed in 1957 to give access for tourists to the East End community as it was being made into a summer resort.

Montauk Airport has a land area of 16 hectares with a single asphalt runway measuring 989 meters by 23 meters. The airport serves Tropic Ocean Airways with destinations in New York Seaplane Base. Based on 2010 records, the aircraft operations in the airport are 30,361. Since 1999, the airport underwent major capital improvements as funded by Federal grant. The improvements include the paving of the runway and aircraft apron, burying of power lines, installation of navigational aids, improved runway lighting and markings, and Inadvertent Entry Fencing. Restaurants and the beautiful County Park beaches are at walking distance. Montauk Airport serves nearby cities and towns such as the Baltic, New London and Westerly.
