About Romantik Hotel Oberhonnefeld-Gierend
The Romantik Hotel has been a household name in high-end guest house accommodations. The hotel chain has 200 branches spread 10 European countries. Despite the recorded 40-year operations of the management, its roots can actually be traced way back in the past centuries. Its primary characteristics namely history, tradition, quality, and warm hospitality are rooted from a charming story of one of its hotels in the 14th century. In 1334, what is now known as Romantik Hotel Gmachl in Austria was first mentioned in records as a half-yard and tavern. It was this farm owned by a man named George. He managed a farming business in the property which lasted for several generations. In 1470, “Elixhauser” was an entry surname for the farming group. The surname disappeared in 1787 when Theresia Elixhauser married the restaurateur Johann Georg Gmachl.
Ever since, descendants kept the Gmachl name attached to what is now a part of Romantik Hotel’s historical hotel series. This particular branch of the hotel group proves how deep “history” goes as attached in their branding. Romantik Hotels & Restaurants AG has also committed to a partnership with Chateaux & Hotels Collection, marking the most significant and recent partnership to datefor both brands. Together, they continue to expand operations across Europe.
