Rishiri: Exploring One of North Hokkaido’s Islands
While Rishiri, Japan is located in the remote section of Hokkaido, it is home to incomparable scenery of rolling greens and panoramic seascapes. Best Time to Visit
Every year in July, the town of Rishiri hosts a festival to celebrate the beginning of the climbing season. However, trekkers are welcome to hike Mt. Rishiri anytime between late June and early October. You need not worry about your travel date when coming to the island for sightseeing as Rishiri is generally beautiful throughout the year. The town is the busiest in July, so expect plenty of unavailable Rishiri, Japan hotels.
What to Do & Area Attractions
When in Rishiri, include the Rishiricho Museum, Peshi Misaki Observatory, and Mount Rishiri in your itinerary. The observatory is just around a ten-minute walk from the Tanakaya Hinageshikan, a three-star suburban ryokan in the town of Rishifuji. The hotel already provides a free airport transfer for staying guests, on top of access to their top amenities, such as hot springs, luggage storage, and bike rental. If you want a change of scenery, check out the Ryokan Fuji, which sits right on the waterfront. There is also a bar in the property where you can lounge after the city tour.
