Salobreña: The Jewel of Costa Tropical
Salobreña is a town that is recorded to be thriving for almost 6,000 years. It is located on the Costa Tropical in Granada, Spain. The town is surrounded by sugarcane fields and terracing lands covered with several crops and fruit trees. It is also divided into two parts: the Old Town and the modern part. The former sits atop a rocky latitude with whitewashed houses and steep streets reflecting the town's traditional façade. The latter is situated from beneath the Old Town towards the beach, modernized and slowly developing the urban sector of Salobreña.
Best Time to Visit
Months of June and July have several festivals that are celebrated by locals and attract tourists as well. San Juan Festivities is a weeklong set of festivities during June with bonfires by the sea. The festival of Virgen del Carmen is a sea festival celebrated around the 16th of July.

Salobreña is enjoyably visited by many tourists for its agricultural beauty and historical attractions. The Salobreña Castle is one of the most popular sites in town with stunning views. It was built in the 10th century by the Moors and expanded by the Christians later after. Before it was abandoned in 1849, it was used as both a royal palace and a royal prison. There are also six beaches found in Salobreña and La Guardia & Peñon is the town's main beach with small cove called Playa Peñon.
