Sendai Airport - SDJ
Sendai Airport is a public international airport managed by the Sendai International Airport Co., Ltd and is located in Sendai, Japan. It is currently the home base of Peach Aviation and is locally known as Sendai International Airport. The Imperial Japanese Army built the airport in 1940 with the intention to use it as a flight school and training center. The very first flight route established in the airport was back in 1990 - from Gimpo International Airport in Seoul to Sendai and was the beginning of its international service in the region.
Best Time to Visit
SDJ Airport is located 2 meters above mean sea level and features a single passenger terminal. The current terminal features four floors. Ground floor serves domestic and international arrival areas as well as baggage claims. The Second Floor serves as the customs control area and atrium. Level 2 is the departure area of the domestic and international flights while Level 3 is where you can access retail shops and the business lounge. During a long layover, you might want to check out Akiu Onsen where several hot springs and dining options can be enjoyed.
