Skara: More Than Just A Pilgrimage City
One of Sweden’s oldest cities is the small bedroom community of Skara, Sweden. It has a well-established history that leans more towards education and religion instead of the usual art and science. The city was founded as early as the 988 AD and had long been a place of Christian significance. Many religious meetings of powerful authorities were held in the city most especially during the Medieval times. Skara, Sweden is characterized by a humid continental climate which means it is hot during summers and moderately cool during winters. Moderate to heavy rain is also experienced especially towards the latter half of the year. With that in mind, it is ideal to visit the city between January and March when the weather is favorable. Less tourists and cheaper Skara hotels also await you during these months. July annually, the Stockholm Street Festival takes place in a theater somewhere in town.

In the main square, you will find the centuries-old Skara Cathedral with an impressive façade. Just a few walks from there is the Museum of Västergötland, an open air museum.
