Sports Center Gezirah Sporting Club was founded in 1882 on the island district of Zamalek in Cairo, Egypt and was formerly called Khedivial Sporting Club. With a total area of 150 acres, the club is attested as Egypt’s biggest multi-sport facility. It was initially meant for the British Army, and then it was nationalized in 1952 and so attracting many elite Egyptians to be a member of the club. The middle and lower classes were able to join later on after the aristocratic asset of the club was turned into a public asset.
