Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Centre, Whistler, British Columbia, Canada
The Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Centre was established by the Squamish and Lil'wat Nations in Whistler, British Columbia, as a home in which to exhibit and preserve their unique history, culture, and arts. It is considered the first of its kind in the country. Apart from being a home to a museum, the cultural center also serves as the venue for various community events, workshops, and seminars. It offers hourly tours around the facility from 10 am to 4 pm every day.
Aside from the cultural center, Whistler is also home to a handful of other interesting sites and attractions, one of which is the Whistler Museum. The museum preserves various kids' activity books, interactive exhibits, and a tickle trunk. It tells the story of the city, from its creation until its hosting of the Winter Olympic Games in 2010. There is also information about the town's popular native animal, the black bears. If you're a fan of snow and the outdoors, make sure to visit the Coca-Cola Tube Park. It can be found on Blackcomb Mountain and is a popular winter activity while in the town. The tubes come in varying sizes, and guests can choose from seven different tubing lanes.
Roughly a half-hour walk from the Coca-Cola Tube Park will take you to the four-star Glacier Lodge Boutique Hotel. This upscale condo is complete with a living room, laundry facilities, a restaurant, and an outdoor pool. If you prefer a more affordable hotel, check out the Embarc Whistler. This condo is set on a mountain and features two outdoor pools, two spa tubs, an arcade, a library, and a gym all within the property.
