Vicchio: A Delightful Little Holiday Haven
Located less than an hour from Florence is the town of Vicchio, which belongs to the Metropolitan City of Florence in Tuscany, Italy. It is a charming village nestled in a valleyin the middle of olive and vine covered hills. Known for its famous sons – Giotto, Fra Angelico and Cellini, the town showcases the artists’ life and works in museums found around the village.
Best Time to Visit
Vicchio enjoys ideal weather from mid-April to July and the best time to visit is during the quieter part of the year from April to June as well as from September to October when weather is cooperative, there are fewer tourists and prices for Vicchio, IT hotels and accommodations are a bit lower. On the other hand, the busiest months Vicchio gets are March, January and February. Jazz enthusiasts should check out the Giotto Jazz Festivalthat Vicchio hosts annually starting around Valentine’s Day and extending till April.

Then it’s time for a tour of "Fra Angelico" Museum of Sacred Art dedicated to the great painter. Walk along the Sentieridei Pittori, or Painters’ Trails and have an enjoyable hike along Monte Verruca and stop at Lake Montellerito for a whiff of its fresh air and serene setting.
