Abemama Atoll Airport – AEA Abemama
Abemama Atoll Airport or commonly called Abemama Airport is public-used airport located north of Tabiang Village in Abemama, Kiribati. It has an assigned IATA airport code of AEA and NGTB by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). The airport is owned and operated by the local city government of Abemama and caters the greater area of Abemama as well as the nearby towns of Binoinano, Aranuka and Abatiku. It is constructed in 1943 by the United States Navy Seabees that serves as the airfield base of Seventh US Air Force. The airport played a major role in the United States victory in penetrating the outer ring of the Japanese Pacific security circle.
