Asahikawa Airport – AKJ Asahikawa
Asahikawa Airport is a regional airport found in the cities of Higashikagura and Asahikawa, Japan. The single-runway airport with code AKJ lies in the outskirts of the two cities. In 1955, the city council has proposed having an airport in town. After a few years, it has opened its doors. In 1970, it started to have flights going to Tokyo. Currently, it is classified as a second class airport. Aside from domestic flights, it also serves in international destinations like city of South Korea and Taipei.
Best Time to Visit
AKJ-Asahikawa Airport first catered to Japan Domestic Airlines in 1966. The flights are only scheduled back then. The airport was closed for expansion for two years starting from 1981. The runway was extended and widened to accommodate wide-body and jumbo aircraft. The first international charted flights took in the late 80’s. A parallel taxiway was also opened in 1998. The airport is surrounded by cities of Furano and Nunoppe.

The hotel is convenient because it is connected to a shopping mall and train station. This modern hotel has polish rooms with minimalist furniture.
