Amalienborg Palace, Copenhagen, Denmark
Amalienborg Palace, or simply Amalienborg, serves as the home of the Royal Family of Denmark. It is located in Copenhagen, Denmark and it is made up four identical buildings, facing each other. It is fitted with rococo interiors and the buildings sit in an octagonal courtyard. In the middle of the courtyard is a statue of the King Frederick V, who founded Amalienborg Palace. Construction on the palaces started in 1750, but it was not completed until a decade later in 1760. There are four palaces in Amalienborg as it was originally intended to house four families. But after the burning of Christianborg, the country’s royal family bought the palaces. Attached to Amalienborg Palace is Amaliehaven or the Amalie Garden.
