Ampuero: A Town of Great Salmon Fishing, Sightseeing, and Running with the Bulls
Famed for the encierros or the running of the bulls in summer, Ampuero is a municipality in Spain that belongs to the Cantabria community. It is the county’s head town because of its location, which is in the center of Cantabria. Tourists not only go here to participate in the running of the bulls but also to enjoy salmon fishing and sightseeing opportunities. The nearest airport is Santander Airpot (SDR), 21 miles from the town.
Best Time to Visit
Ampuero hotels are easily available year-round, but prices may go up during summer when the Virgen Niña festival’s encierros is celebrated. If you are here for warm-weather activities, then it is best to visit from mid-April to the first week of November. June, July and August are rainiest months in the municipality of Ampuero.

The calm waters at Playa Salve are adorned by beachgoers as well as those who want to enjoy scenic ocean views. The place is clean, and there’s plenty of area for sunbathing and other beach activities. A famous landmark for recollection and sightseeing is the Santuario de la Bien Aparecida, which features a beautiful church surrounded by lovely gardens, a souvenir store, and Udalla valley views.
