Avanos: Home of Ancient Pottery and The Hair Museum
Situated at the tourist and historic region of Cappadocia, Avanos is a town in Turkey that is famous for its pottery produced over a million years. The clay comes from Kizilirmak, with a reddish blue characteristic. Its former name is Venessa in ancient times, and it overlooks the longest river in Turkey, which is the Red River (Kizilirmak). This divides the town of Avanos and the rest of Cappadocia.
Best Time to Visit
During the month of August or early September, the Avanos International Tourism and Handicrafts Festival is held to which their millennium-old craft and is being showcased, along with their culture and tradition. Taking advantage of the good weather during this time of year is also encouraged, along with April until May. The busiest months are June, July and August, but the month people are least likely to visit in December.

Alaaddin Turkish Bath is famous with tourists as they can experience a professional Turkish bath while staying at Avano, Greece. Saruhan Exhibition and Culture Center is also accessible when touring around the town, close to Sofa Hotel and Mira Cappadocia Hotel. The Hair Museum of Avanos is an interesting find in this town, where it showcases a collection of human hair in a form of art. The collection started in the 19th century. Goreme National Park can also be explored at on a sunny day. Suhhan Cappadocia Hotel and Spa is a 5-star hotel near this attraction, to where tourists can enjoy a luxurious stay.
