Baotou: An Industrialized City with Colorful Past
Baotou is an industrialized city known for having the largest economic growth in the Mongolian region. Much of its development can be attributed to its strategic location in the Yellow River and the Bohai Economic Rim. At present, it is one of the biggest exporters of clothing materials, coals, and other minerals. As such, it has been called the “Capital of Rare Earth” and the “Steel Capital on Grassland”. As a business district, it has its own airport – the Baotou Airport (BAV) –, which is just 14 miles from the city center.
Best Time to Visit
The weather in this city is at its best months from May to September. Many business conventions and trades also occur during this time so Baotou hotel can become quite busy. Off-season occurs during the freezing winter period so accommodation rates are cheaper from late December to January.
