The charming town of Berlin, New York is a part of Rensselaer County. As of the 2010 census, it has a population of 1,880 people. Named after the German city, but pronounced differently with the emphasis placed on the first syllable. Settled in 1765, it is one of the many towns in the state that have a German name. Berlin Mountain is the highest point in town and is located near the state’s border with Massachusetts.
