Cabrerets: Dark Caves and Rough Cliffs
From the French word “cabre” which meant goats, the town of Cabrerets, France in the department of Lot thrives as an agricultural community. It sits at the foothills of Rochecourbe Cliffs and the rivers Sagne and Cele run through it. The town is part of a pilgrimage route and many prehistoric landmarks are also found all over. Therefore, many travelers are attracted to visit the area.
Best Time to Visit
Cabrerets dominantly experiences a significant amount of rainfall throughout the entire year. It is the warmest in town during the summer months of June to August and thus, are the most recommended months to visit especially if you are planning on going around visiting outdoor landmarks and recreational areas in town. If you wish to score cheaper Cabrerets hotels and avoid the peak season but still enjoy a great weather, come a little earlier – around April or May.
What to Do & Area Attractions
Both hotel and restaurant complexes, the Auberge de la Sagne and Hôtel Les Falaises top the list of tourists’ favorites when it comes to Cabrerets hotels. They are also the nearest one to the town proper. Boasting a garden and picturesque Cliffside view, the Un jardin dans la falaise is also an exceptional choice to stay in while in town. Pech Merle Cave, a cave that has an entrance on one of the Cliffside part of Cabrerets, is the town’s most prominent point of interest. Ancient paintings that date as far back as the prehistoric times can be seen on the cave walls. Spend a wonderful time with nature as you find hiking trails or waterfalls at Causses de Quercy Natural Regional Park.
