This Chinook Jargon translates to “mountain” but was later renamed in May 1898 with the city’s present day name, Cottage Grove, OR. The region is considered to be the third largest city in Lane County and now known as one of the cities who religiously practices and promotes the Green Revolution. The region is popularly known as the “Covered Bridge Capital of Oregon” with a total of six covered bridges located near the city.
