Eastham: Opening the Doors to the Stunning Cape Cod
Eastham, MA is popularly known as the “Gateway to Cape Cod”, a National Seashore founded by former U.S. President John F. Kennedy in 1961. Eastham is believed to be named after Eastham in Cheshire. This region is believed to be the home of John Doane, one of the first settlers in the region. Some story claims that the city was named after “East Ham” a suburban region in London. The region served as the home of the Nauset Tribe. It was later populated by Europeans up until 1644 and was officially incorporated in 1651.
