Falfurrias, Texas, serving as the county seat of Brooks County, is a city with a population of about 5,000 in 2010. The city’s name came from the founder’s ranch called La Mota de Falfurrias. In the late 1800s, this ranch, owned by an Edward Cunningham Lasater, was among the biggest in the state, boasting of about 350,000 acres of land area.
