Fuerteventura Airport is a public airport in Spain that serves the island of Fuerteventura. It is located in El Matorral, approximately 3 miles southwest of the island’s capital city Puerto del Rosario, Spain. The airport uses the airport code FUE, and is also known by an alternative name, El Matorral Airport, based on its location. As of the 2018 statistics, over 6.1 million passengers have passed through this airport to and from over 80 destinations around the world.

The airport opened on September 14, 1969 and primarily catered to domestic flights. The first flights out of the Fuerteventura Airport to other European countries started in 1973. Through the years, growth in both passenger numbers and operations resulted to a series of facility improvements. Today, the airport features one two-level terminal building with 24 boarding gates and with the capacity to handle up to 8.2 million annual passengers. Aside from reaching El Matorral, visitors flying in to this airport can go to the various resort towns and municipalities on the island such as Bahia Calma, Pajara, and Cofete.
