One of the most popular attractions in the municipality is Heers Castle, which was established in the 13th century. The de Riviere d’Arschot resided in the castle until the 18th century. Another interesting site to visit in the city is Heks Castle, which was founded by architect Etienne Fayen dor Liege Prince-Bishop Franz Karl in the 18th century. It is known for its gardens, particularly the Garden of Roses which received the Award of Garden Excellence from the World Federation of Rose Societies in 2003.
