Irbid: A City Born During the Bronze Age
Anciently known as Arabella, is the second-largest city in the country, Irbid, Jordan. It is one of the country’s most densely populated cities and has been inhabited by humans ever since the Bronze Age. The city has an incredibly long history like any other place in Jordan, but there is not much to see around, but even though it still attracts a fair share of tourists yearly. Irbidmay not be an essential city for sightseeing, but it houses two worthwhile museums and is an excellent base for exploring the northern Jordan Valley.
Best Time to Visit
Mid-June to late September is the best time to visit Irbid, Jordan, for warm weather. Late September is also the peak season for tourism, and the city sees a frenzy of tourists. Prices for Irbid, Jordan hotels and other accommodations may cost higher than usual during these months. In October, the annual Al Harm Festival is celebrated in the city.
What to Do & Area Attractions
Dar As-Saraya Museumis one of the top main attractions in Irbid, Jordan. It is situated in a stunning old villa of basaltic rock and was once a prison until 1994. Today, it houses a beautiful collection of local artifacts that shows Irbid’s history. You can also drop by the Museum of Jordanian Heritage,which is situated inside the Yarmouk University and has some archeological artifacts. Spend the rest of your weekend at Beit Al Baraka, which has a sun terrace and a restaurant, or at Sara Crown Hotel, which boasts its furnished accommodations with seating areas.
