Kartepe, Turkey offers varied attractions all-year long, making it a popular tourist spot. Ski season runs from December-February, so the town can be a little crowded with visitors who come for winter activities. Kartepe hotel rates can be a little higher, but not as steep as they are in the spring, which is high season in Istanbul, where most Kartepe guests travel. Turkish festivals to note include Republic Day every October 29.
What to Do & Area Attractions
Kartepe Ski Center, which is a good spot for beginner and intermediate skiers, is not the only attraction in this Kocaeli Province district; Kartepe and nearby areas offer other attractions, such as the Gayret Gemi Museum. This museum features submarines, warships, and other paraphernalia that were used by the military. Charming Sapanca Lake is perfect for strolling, fishing, boating or just soaking up the natural beauty of the lake and its surroundings. There are a number of shops you can visit near the lake.
