Kaufbeuren: A Historic City Nestled in Southern Germany
Kaufbeuren, Germany is an independent town within the administrative region of Swabia in the state of Bavaria. There is an airbase in the city that was once used by the US Army after World War II. It was eventually turned over to Kaufbeuren and is currently used as a training field by the German Air Force.
Best Time to Visit
When visiting the town in June, make sure to attend the Tänzelfest, a community event where children re-enact the town’s history. To complete the look, they are even dressed in the town’s traditional costume. There are also several other events during this festival, where you can experience the culture of Kaufbeuren. The temperatures are pretty high during this time of year, so tourism is relatively slow. This meant less crowded attractions and less expensive Kaufbeuren, Germany hotels.
What to Do & Area Attractions
Kaufbeuren has several landmarks that are hard to miss. This includes the 1150 Crescentiakloster, the late 1800s Town Hall, and the historic city wall, which is partially conserved in Kaufbeuren’s Old Town. You will not find it difficult to search for accommodations within the town, as it is dotted with numerous inns and hotels, ready to house you during your stay. Two of the top-rated ones in the area are Ibis Styles Kaufbeuren Allgäu and Hotel Hasen Kaufbeuren. While both are close to the city center, only the latter offers tour and ticket assistance. Ibis Styles, on the other hand, provide complete en-suite amenities and an on-site business center.
