Kawazu: Enjoying the First Sakura Blooms
Kawazu is located in the Izu Peninsula, a popular onsen resort area that boasts of seven hot spring baths, each with its own characteristic appeal. Kawazu, Japan is most famous for its early flowering cherry blossoms, the Kawazu-zakura, which start to bloom in early February. Unlike other cherry tree varieties whose blooms last for only about two weeks, the bright pink Kawazu-zakura blossoms last for about a month depending on the temperature, giving locals and tourists more time to enjoy their beauty.
Best Time to Visit
The best time to attend the Kawazu Cherry Blossom Festival is from late February to early March, when the flowers are in full bloom. However, be prepared for crowds and more expensive Kawazu, Japan accommodations. You can, however, visit Kawazu any time of the year, as the town offers splendid sights and enjoyable attractions all year round.
