Khuan Khanun: A District of Thriving Biodiversity in Southern Thailand
Found in the southern edge of the country, Khuan Khanun, Thailand is a district belonging to the province of Phatthalung. Although its establishment dates back to 1896, it was officially named Udon by then. It was then renamed to Pak Pra three years later before renaming it to Thale Noi and Phanang Tung over the following years. Finally, the district was named to Khuan Khanun in 1923.
Best Time to Visit
Every year, Khuan Khanun hosts the Long Rua-Lae Nok Thale Noi Festival, which dates back to 1998 and features month-long activities promoting the eco-tourism of the city. This runs from February to March and boasts of the area’s diverse flora and fauna. This also coincides with the spring season in Khuan Khanun, which is considered the slowest for tourism. That said, expect discounted rooms at Khuan Khanun, Thailand hotels and cheaper airfare too. The tourist population typically rises in June.

Roughly five miles from the city center, you can find the three-star Lenoi Buri and 2.5-star Bann Chomchan. These cozy inns feature air-conditioned rooms and daily housekeeping for the guests.
