Laugar: Let’s Play A Game of Hot and Cold
Contrary to its country’s name, Laugar, Iceland is a tiny town acclaimed for its green meadows and geothermal springs. It sits at the foot of Mt. Tungumuli. The town holds many Icelandic and Norwegian legends including that story about the heroine of the book Laxdaela Saga who has defeated her enemies thanks to Laugar’s hot water.

The summer months are still relatively cold but even so, many tourists still visit the enticing town to enjoy a relaxing hot spring bath. One of the things you should not miss while in Laugar is dipping for a swim at Laugum Pool, which is naturally heated thanks to the geothermal activities in the area. It has a serene view of the valley and the mountain. Make your way to Dalir Heritage Museum where you can admire the various artifacts showing the town’s heritage and culture. And if you are up for a hike in the cold, check out Tungustapi Hill – said to be the home of elves.
