Locally known as Lapangan Terbang Antarabangsa Langkawi, Langkawi International Airport is currently serving both domestic and international flights in Perlis and Langkawi, Malaysia. The airport is situated at Padang Matsirat, Langkawi, Kedah, Malaysia. The airport has a daily flight schedule to Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Doha, and Guanzhou, a popular destination among passengers. By 2015, Langkawi International Airport has a total record of 30,000 aircraft operations serving a total of 2.3 million passengers and is expected to increase every year, henceforth.
Best Time to Visit
Established in 1945, Langkawi International Airport used to be airfield of the Japanese Army during World War II. The British Army then used it before it was converted to the commercial airport in 1991. By 1993, the airport was refurbished to suit the needs of the passengers by upgrading its facilities and services, such as passengers lounge, terminal buildings, and asphalt runways to accommodate bigger aircraft, check-in counters, information booths, free use of Wi-Fi, dining areas, shopping booths, and many more. With these upgrades, it is easier for passengers to proceed to their next destination like Koh Lipe as there are readily available local transportations parked outside the terminal.

Currently, Langkawi International Airport does not have an onsite hotel. Instead, travelers can check out OYO 275 Senyum Inn, which is 6-minutes' away from the airport. Travelers that are in the area for leisure can book their accommodation at Ombak Villa Langkawi or Bon Ton Resort Langkawi. Both hotels have chic rooms, upscale amenities and has an amazing view of the beach.
