Longreach Airport – LRE Airport

An airport for public use, Longreach Airport (with airport code LRE) is the airport serving the city of Longreach in Queensland. This airport is located at 1.5 nautical miles at the north eastern part of the city. The first overland flight within Australia following a route from England to the said continent happened in Longreach Airport during 1919. The airlines rendering their services under this public-use airport are QantasLink and Regional Express Airlines – the first one following the Brisbane route, the other, Townsville, Winton. The airport is operated by Longreach Shire Council.

The LRE-Longreach Airport is sitting at 627 feet above mean sea level elevation, with one asphalt runway that measures 1,936 meters. Air ground communication was established in the year 1941 by the Department of Civil Aviation – this has later on improved the communication system within the facility, as well as aircrafts equipped with radios that is rendering their services all throughout the country.
