Madisonville: Sail Your Way to this River Town
Madisonville, Louisiana is a town with less than 800 inhabitants in the Metropolitan Statistical Area of New Orleans-Metairie-Kenner. It is situated on the riverbanks of Tchefuncte confluent with the Pontchartrain Lake. Founded in the 18th century by Jean Baptiste Baham, the town was previously called Coquille after the abundance of shells in the area. Madisonville was then later renamed after former US President and Founding Father James Madison.

A popular destination for both indoor and outdoor activities, Madisonville, Louisiana boasts of its close to amazing weather all-year round. There might be times rain will fall but nothing extreme that will ruin your trip. It is ideal to visit the town during autumn when the weather is the most comfortable and the annual Maritime Museum Wooden Boat Festival takes place. Summer and autumn are the two seasons with the most number of visitors every year so do not expect Madisonville hotels to be affordable.
